Raine was founded in Melbourne, Australia by three passionate entrepreneurs. James Murphy, the co-founder of the BajaBoard off-road electric skateboard, wanted to design and create a product that’s easy and fun to ride. Marc Alexander, the co-founder of the LIFX smart light bulbs, adds his years of experience running successful companies and designing electronics. Michelle Mannering, the co-founder of the Black AI visualisation system, adds her marketing and partnerships flair.
Together, they are the ultimate trio, focused on bringing to the market one of the most exciting new electric kick scooters to date, the amazing Raine one.
Segway Ninebot
Ninebot, a privately held company, strategically merged with Segway in 2015. Headquartered in Bedford, US, the combined company focuses on the research and development, design, manufacturing, distribution and sales of short-distance transportation products.
Segway and Ninebot are devoted to seamlessly connect robotic solutions to smart phones and integrate existing technologies and future concepts, such as voice interaction and facial recognition with its robotic products.
Xiaomi
Xiaomi is one of the major investors of Ninebot and the company behind the Mi Electric Scooter – a product which has received the coveted Best of the Best of the Red Dot Design Award and the Good Design Best 100 Award.
Beautiful design and practicality is key to the Mi Electric scooter. To figure out the best riding experience, Ninebot bought 50-60 different types of electric scooters for research. As a result, its exceptionally durable tires can ride for 5000 km, or 250 hours, for a continuous high speed of 20 km/hour. As the scooter’s tires do not come in a standard size, we equip all our global versions with one to two extra tires and tools for replacing.
EPIC
The owner and designer of Epic Skateboards, Adam Riley built his first electric skateboard at the age of 15 as a school project back in 1991 using a bike chain, lead acid battery and a wired hand control. Since then Epic Electric Skateboards have come a long way, now all Epic skateboards have a wireless hand control with speedometer, headlight and a 5 bar battery indicator so you know when the board needs to be recharged.
They come with features such as lead acid or lithium batteries which get you over 1000 charges, regenerative braking so the power goes back into the battery when the brake is used and the option of a slow speed setting for when your just starting out and a fast speed setting for the more advanced and a reverse mode.
